Is IDX Necessary for Your Website? – Do You Need Air to Breathe?

Okay, the title is a bit dramatic. You would die without air, but you’ll live through not having IDX. Your business may not though. We’ve all seen the statistics many times. More than 80% of those in the real estate market use the internet to begin their property search. They want one thing when they visit a website, to locate listings, lots of them, and lots of information and images for those listings.

Guess what! They’re not typing in “john smith real estate for sale” either. We’re not talking about YOUR listings. There is a place for them, and they have a definite reason for being on a site. But we’re talking about millions of daily searches for real estate listing information. And, they’re not looking for yours. They’re looking for everything in the Multiple Listing Service.

26th Year of CanTree

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: November 20 2008

Starting at 7 a.m. Monday, Sacramento REALTORS® will begin building a giant “tree” of canned goods in the Downtown Plaza, marking the 26th year for the CanTree project.

Since 1983, SAR has raised more than $2 million for the Salvation Army of Sacramento through CanTree. “Trees” will also be constructed at Country Club Plaza and the Marketplace at Birdcage on Tuesday, November 25.

Closed Escrows Remain Highest in Years, Median Sales Price Remains Stable

(RESIDENTIAL RESALE STATISTICS October 2008)

For two consecutive months, the number of total closed escrows has remained at unseasonal-highs. The following information, compiled by the Sacramento Association of REALTORS®, is collected from the MetroList® multiple listing services and covers Sacramento County and the City of West Sacramento.

October closed escrows reached a total of 2,103, a figure 4.1% over the 2,020 home sales in September. This is the second consecutive month to show closed escrow numbers over 2,000 units, figures that have not been seen for over three years. When compared to the same month last year, October’s 2,103 sales show a 173% increase over the 770 closed escrows in October 2007.

Blogging As The Killer Real Estate Business Tool

Websites are not dead. In fact, it’s a mistaken belief that a blog is not a website. It is just another way of organizing, updating and presenting content. A blog can be a part of your website, or it can stand alone and link to it. The key is to understand what a blog is all about, and how it changes the way in which your site visitors perceive you and interact with you.

What are you trying to accomplish with your Internet presence? Many would say that it is to showcase your services, expertise and listings. That’s correct, but it doesn’t go far enough, nor does it really address the importance of the Web to the average Realtor. What should we be trying to accomplish with our web presence?

REALTORS® Celebrate 100 Years

The Sacramento Association of REALTORS will celebrate 100 years in Sacramento with a centennial gala on Friday, November 14.

The Sacramento Association of REALTORS® was formed in 1908 to promote professionalism and ethics in business practices. The National Association of REALTORS® was also founded in 1908.

In a proclamation marking the Centennial, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said, “The last 100 years have seen you accomplish great things for the people of Sacramento. Many families’ dreams of homeownership have become a reality thanks to your tireless efforts and commitment to your profession.”

Six local charities will benefit from the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® Masters Club in 2008

Masters Club Awards Breakfast Nov. 21

Six local charities will benefit from the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® Masters Club in 2008.

On November 21, Bishop Quinn Cottages, Breaking Barriers, Mustard Seed School, Sacramento Crisis Nursery, Stanford Settlement and Wellspring Women’s Center will receive checks totaling $8,211.84, raised at the annual Masters Club golf tournament.

The special guest speaker at the awards breakfast will be The Hon. Darrell Steinberg, California State Senate.
