Industry update was lucky to have a wonderful panel of individuals from the Sacramento Bee discussing “State of Online”, as in online marketing.

It’s so evident that in today’s world an online presence is an absolute must. According to the panelists, by 2011, 74% of households will be online, but they said this figure is actually higher in the Sacramento region. The fastest growing segment of online users is those individuals 55 or older. And, 89% of consumers research products online before buying, including real estate.

The individuals from Sacramento Bee reiterated in life, you get what you pay for, and online marketing is no different. Sacramento Bee utilizes some amazing new technologies that free sites don’t have access to. Through a partnership with Yahoo! the Sacramento Bee is able to optimize advertisements through online behavior marketing. Reaching people who are looking at real estate information online, and even narrow it down to a specific geographical area!

Another important thing to consider in online marketing is audience. In keeping with the theme that you get what you pay for, may free web sites don’t bring in clientele seriously looking to buy property. The Sacramento Bee draws in the highest quality audience for your industry, those who have significant disposable income. And, with the latest technology they can even track who looks at their pages to further target advertising.
