Increased Examination and License Fees – Effective July 1

The Department of Real Estate has maintained fees at the same levels for the past five years. Although the DRE has made efforts to reduce expedentures, they are now forced to increase fees to fund its operational needs.

Increased fees applies to all examination applications, original license applications and license renewal applications.  For original license applications, the new fees are charged if submitted on or after July 1.  License renewal fees are determined by license expiration date.

Renewal fees for Salespersons licenses expiring after June will increase from $120 to $245.  Renewal fees for Brokers licenses expiring after June increase from $165 to $300.

In either case, late submissions result in about an additional $150.

The fee increase notice can be found here.

this is ridiculous. A lot of people will not renew their license now because of this huge increase. This is not the way you do it, you just increase 10% or so each year not jump to a massive fee….very disappointed in DRE

  • Helen,

I understand your anger, and there were many others around this time last year as well.
