Your Monthly Message From C.A.R. President James Liptak

Aug. 6, 2009
Dear C.A.R. Member,

We hope you enjoyed the first edition of Your Membership, Your Way, sent to your inbox July 21. This new monthly communication was created to bring C.A.R. member benefits, news, resources, and information directly to you so you can quickly access the tools you need to successfully navigate today’s market and better manage your personal and professional lives. I know from my own experience that it’s often difficult to keep track of all the resources available to us from our Association. It is my hope that Your Membership, Your Way will make it easier for you.

I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight a few timely discounts and programs that will help you in your business right now. As you know, regulations that recently went into effect require that a member’s DRE license number be on all first point-of-contact materials. I know many of us will have to reprint our business cards, property flyers, and other marketing materials to comply with the new requirements. That’s why we’ve partnered with PrintingForLess.com and negotiated a 25-percent discount to help defray your costs on marketing material reprints. This includes all business cards, stationery, advertising flyers, and other soliciting marketing materials that now must display your DRE license number. Members should visit http://www.printingforless.com/car and enter coupon code CAR25P at checkout. I hope you take advantage of this offer.

I hope you – and more importantly, your clients – are taking advantage of the C.A.R. Housing Affordability Fund’s Mortgage Protection Program. The program was developed to help address first-time home buyers’ concerns about potential job loss and how such a loss would impact their ability to make their mortgage payment. Through the Mortgage Protection Program, first-time home buyers who lose their jobs due to layoffs may be eligible to receive up to $1,500 per month, for up to six months, to help make their mortgage payments. A qualified co-buyer also can participate in the program, and receive a monthly benefit of $750 per month for up to six months.

Best of all, this program is totally free to you and your clients through C.A.R.H.A.F., so please take advantage of this benefit and encourage all of your first-timers to apply. C.A.R. also is offering a free webinar for members about the C.A.R.H.A.F. Mortgage Protection Program (MPP) on Aug. 18. For complete info about the Mortgage Protection Program or to register for the webinar, go to http://www.carhaf.org or call (213) 739-8380.

I also hope you’re planning to attend as many of the free educational seminars you can – there are more than 50 in all – at CALIFORNIA REALTOR® EXPO 2009 in San Jose Oct. 6 – 8. There are free seminars on short sales, foreclosures, securing a jumbo loan, loan modifications, tips to ground buyers and sellers in reality, and financing options, to name a few. Entrance to the exhibit hall and educational seminars is free to all C.A.R. members, but you have to register to receive an entrance badge. You also can call toll-free (800) 242-2732 to register.

Be on the lookout for the next edition of Your Membership, Your Way, scheduled to be delivered to your inbox Aug. 18.

Sincerely,
James Liptak
2009 President
CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS®
