Wednesday, November 4th, 2009Members of the Community Outreach Committee toured St. John’s Shelter Program for Women and Children on November 3. They were impressed to learn how the women at the Shelter are required to participate in a program designed to move them towards self-sufficiency, towards employment and a permanent living space. The Shelter houses more than 100 women and children and currently turns away more than 300 per day.
Committee members brought laundry detergent for the Shelter and left with enthusiasm for collecting more donations. The Shelter always needs diapers and office-appropriate clothing for its graduates. Donations are accepted Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 1-6 p.m. and Saturday, 10-4 p.m.
