SAR is sad to inform you that one of our most senior Members, Evelyn Morgan, passed away last night in her sleep after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was 97.
According to Bob Brunswick of Coldwell Banker, Evelyn began her real estate career in 1971 at the age of 59 with Jones, Brand and Hullin. Evelyn, a former teacher, was very successful in her real estate business and amassed many accomplishments and top producer awards during her 35-year career. Other honors include 1993 President and Outstanding Life Member, Sacramento Association of REALTORS® Masters Club; and President of the local Women’s Council of Real Estate Chapter in 2003, as well as honored with the WCR Outstanding Life Membership award in 2006. After spending most of her real estate career with the Coldwell Banker Sierra Oaks office, she retired in February of 2006 at age 94.
In a letter to SAR regarding her retirement Evelyn wrote, “Since I’ll be 94 soon I have decided to retire. (How many agents do you have at my age?)” She further mentioned, “Yes, I made the right decision when I gave up coordinating fashion shows to see if I could sell property.” We at SAR heartily agree.
Active Member Ron Greenwood stated, “Evelyn was considered by just about everyone as the Grande Dame of Sacramento Real Estate and loved by all. Everyone who knew her also knew that when there was a party, Evelyn would be one of the first ones there and one of the last to leave. She also loved her family, and spoke often about them. She will definitely be missed by everyone.”
Details regarding the public memorial have not been finalized. SAR will email those out as soon as we have the information.
