SAR’s Can Tree project was recognized at the annual Fair Housing Month celebration hosted by the Regional Human Rights/Fair Housing Commission today. The Commission presented SAR with a check for $300 in lieu of providing center pieces at the event. Over 300 community leaders and elected officials attended and were told how SAR raises enough money each year to feed some 66,000 families during the holiday season. The Salvation Army’s Holiday Food Basket Program is sponsored by SAR through its REALTOR® and Affiliate Members and firms that conduct events throughout the fall to raise money. SAR’s Can Tree Committee, Chaired by Tim McGuire also staged a Crab Fest this year which was so well-received that it is also becoming an annual event. Can Trees will be constructed by volunteers at Country Club Plaza and in old town Elk Grove this November. Be watching for announcements.
