The SAR Commercial Division has now been in existence for six years. In that time, we have provided numerous high-quality educational courses to aid the community with their commercial real estate transactions and level of professionalism. We have provided mentoring to our Members who require assistance with real estate transactions. We have available a comprehensive website with information about our organization, classes, legislative initiatives and more. SAR Commercial also sends out its Commercial e-mail blast on a bi-monthly basis which now has a consistent readership of over 1,000 with each edition. We have monitored legislation that will affect our industry as well as participated with the various other commercial organizations in the metropolitan Sacramento region. We have answered hundreds of questions and been a resource regarding commercial real estate for our Membership and for community members. And finally, we have brought attention to the inherent contribution that the commercial real estate community makes to the general economy and how we participate WITH the residential market and vice versa. We have been busy — but there is much more to do. In 2013, our goal is to make this an even better resource, bring more effective services and help more SAR Members find success in the commercial real estate market. Therefore, we need you! We are looking to put together a new Commercial Division Committee and specifically need commercial brokers and practitioners who are willing to commit to helping this entity grow. Sacramento Business Journal columnist Ed Goldman feels that people serve on non-paying boards, committees and ad hoc advisory groups for a variety of reasons which include (a) they think what the organization is doing is worthwhile, (b) they like meeting people who are similarly engaged with the community, and (c) they really want to accomplish something that won’t reward them with anything but personal satisfaction. Our hope it that your participation in SAR will reward you with all of the above plus give you the potential of a greater network and more deals done.
