SAR’s YPC Logo I am pleased to announce that the Sacramento Association of Realtors “Young Professionals Council” has been approved by the National Association of Realtors as an official member of their “ Attendees numbered near 100 for the Fall Housing Affordability Update, gathering the latest information on available products/financing from local organizations. Kevin Nunn, Vice Chair of the Housing Opportunity Committee, explained the ins and outs of such programs as FHA, CalHFA, CalVet, NeighborWorks, the MCC and others. Kevin received help with certain topics, calling on Bobbi Glassell for information on the Energy Efficient Mortgage (EEM) and Scott Short to provided insight on CalPERS. Members of the audience were given a chance to have their questions answered by the speakers. Local organizations including Golden1, NeighborWorks, CalVet, Wells Fargo, EEM, the Sacramento Home Loan Counseling Center and others were on site to continue answering questions of the audience. His recent “It’s Easy Being Green” breakout session at the 2009 Fall Conference gave REALTORS® ideas how to incorporate the “green lifestyle” into their work, recreation and day-to-day lives. The main reasons that people are motivated to make changes in their lives are 1) opportunity to gain and 2) fear of loss. One or both of these may be a factor contributing to recent changes you might have made. Carl spoke about the County’s perspective on vacant property, as well as a new strategy between SAR and Sacramento County for dealing with foreclosed properties. Carl and other officials in the County intuitively understand the best solution they have to deal with vacant homes, and the problems associated therein are to get these homes occupied. And because of this, they have restrained from instituting any fees associated with vacant properties, other than hard out of pocket costs. After all, with so many foreclosed properties on the market, why would someone put an offer on a home with $20,000 in fees and penalties when there may be one a few blocks down with a clean title?
