An article in the Sacramento Bee on Sept. 3 (“Natomas district accuses Realtor in a land purchase”) used the term “Realtor” incorrectly. The following letter was sent to the Bee:
The article … refers to him as a Realtor, which he is not. He is a licensed real estate agent, which is not the same thing. The difference is important.
Only real estate professionals who belong to their local Association of REALTORS® may be called REALTORS®. All REALTORS® adhere to the strict Code of Ethics of the National Association of REALTORS®, which is based on professionalism and protection of the public.
