Biodiversity, more shade trees, hamburgers, doughnuts and Boy Scouts will all be part of the “Tree Planting Extravaganza” of the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® on Saturday, November 3.
The parking lot of the SAR building at 2003 Howe is currently shaded by some two dozen pistache trees, which are not the best choice for the 100-space lot, Nelson Janes, executive vice-president of the SAR, said.

State Secretary of Education Dr. David T. Long will be the featured speaker at the Sacramento Association of REALTORS®’ June 3rd general meeting and will assist in distributing SAR’s 2008 scholarship awards to some of Sacramento’s most outstanding high school seniors. The awards presentation will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Association’s Mack Powell Auditorium.
Under the direction of Scholarship Trustee Perry Georgallis, the Association has raised $37,750 this year for 27 scholarships, bringing the total award distribution over the past four years to over $154,000 for 112 exceptional high school graduates and college students.

How many REALTORS® does it take to change a light bulb?
(Sometimes, as many as 5000)
In a multi-pronged “green” effort, the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® is promoting both CFL light bulbs and shade trees throughout Sacramento County, while raising money for its scholarship fund at the same time.
The Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) partnered with Greenlite, a manufacturer, to provide 40,000 CFL (compact fluorescent light) bulbs to the Sacramento Association of REALTORS® in time for Earth Day. SAR is selling them to its members in its retail store for a minimal price. All money generated by the bulbs is given to the SAR scholarship fund.
