Vision and Purpose Sacramento Association of REALTORS® (SAR) leads the real estate industry and the Sacramento business community in supporting higher education for deserving local students. Through our SAR Scholarship Program, we strongly support and encourage academic excellence in young adults, including those students related to current and past Members of our Association and those who will pursue a career in real estate or an affiliated field. We recognize and reward today’s student leaders who best exemplify the spirit and bright future of Professional Real Estate and other fields in Sacramento. Our scholarships are funded exclusively by SAR REALTOR® Members and Affiliate Member donations. The number and value of scholarships awarded each year is dependent on the amount of contributions made and the number and quality of applicants. In recent years, SAR has awarded up to twenty-six scholarships ranging in value from $500 to $3,000 each. Minimum Applicant Qualifications All applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications. See the scholarship application for additional details.
Scholarship Application Guidelines Deadline: The 2009 application deadline is Tuesday, March 31st at 5:00pm. Applications must be received in our offices by that time. No late submitting will be accepted. Essay: Applicants will submit a typed essay of not less than 300 words, describing career objectives and the benefits to be gained from the financial award. Proof of enrollment: Application will be accompanied by a transcript (i.e., high school diploma or equivalency, college or university) and verified enrollment (minimum of 12 hours) for the current semester or quarter for which the scholarship will be provided. Qualified applicants:
Award amount Each year the SAR Scholarship Trustees determine the number and amount of scholarship awards. Recent awards have ranged from $500 - $3,000. Determination and Award Scholarship recipients receive notice of award and award amount in early May. The awards are presented at the June SAR Main Membership Meeting on June 2, 2009. The recipients will be invited and are expected to attend a meeting for recognition purposes and appropriate publicity. A Scholarship Committee member will be available to attend the awards ceremony at a recipient's school, if located in Sacramento County.
