SAR Ethics RequirementsThe National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) mandates that new and continuing members receive no less than two (2) hours and 30 minutes of ethics training. How Long Do I have to Meet the Ethics Requirement? New Members - The SAR Board of Directors has mandated that you have six (6) months from the time of application to complete your Code of Ethics training before we suspend your membership. Continuing Members - you have been a SAR member for over 1-1/2 years, you can complete your Ethics training every four years per the California Department of Real Estate’s (DRE) continuing education requirements. How Do I Satisfy the Ethics Requirement? As a SAR member, you can satisfy the ethics requirement through our video-based training or with online training through the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) or the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR). SAR currently provides free video-based ethics training at least once a month. While the training is free, you can acquire your DRE four-year license renewal credits by paying $16.00 for the training certification. Because space is limited, please call Pat Lowell at (916) 922-8294, ext. 361 to reserve your video viewing time. Online Training You can satisfy the ethics requirement online through the C.A.R. or NAR websites. Upon completion of any online ethics class, please send us a copy of your completion certificate for our compliance records. C.A.R. C.A.R. charges a fee for its online ethics training; however, at completion you acquire 3 DRE credits toward your license renewal. To begin:
